‘ON USING THE TERM ‘INDIAN’’ (Peter Best) {June 20, 2015}:

“Indian” is the precise, legal and denotative term for what is in fact a purely race-based legal category of persons in Canada. It’s in the title of the ‘Indian Act’ and used throughout that statute. It’s in the Constitution of our country, referring to that class of aboriginals who inhabit southern Canada. (The other two legally defined types of aboriginals in the Constitution are “Inuit” and “Metis”.)

“If the reader feels uncomfortable seeing and reading the word everywhere because it “sounds racist”, then good! That’s the point — it is inherently racist! And as such, it’s inherently wrong that it’s in our Constitution, statutes and court decisions.

“Canada’s ultimate goal in this regard should be for us all to have no need or desire to have the word “Indian” in our Constitution, in any of our statutes, or to be a meaningful legal term generally…”

“One of the worst aspects of totalitarian societies is the pressure exerted on individuals to betray and ultimately denounce friends, relatives, even their own parents or spouse. This odious practice is now being demanded by some Canadian ‘Indigenous’ leaders and local activists in a northern B.C. town – under the guise of “reconciliation”. The crime? A prominent local woman purchased an ‘unapproved’ book and dared to suggest that a few acquaintances read it. Now her husband – the local Mayor, who had nothing to do with it – is being pressured not only to resign his office but to denounce his own wife for her thought-crime.”

The politicization of pollsters has resulted in them becoming propagandists rather than objective surveyors of public opinion. This article, written by the fellow who runs the polling company responsible for the poll in this story, is a classic example of this:

“There are very good reasons for rejecting the land acknowledgements — on the basis that they are simply wrong.”

“Whenever somebody tells me I am occupying the unceded land belonging to this, that, or another group of ‘Indigenous’ {sic, Aboriginals are ‘Indigenous’ to Mongolia and Siberia} people, I confess, the information quickly recedes from my memory. Many other Canadians have likely experienced something similar. Despite the prevalence of ‘Indigenous’ land acknowledgements these days, most people probably cannot say whose {claimed} land they are allegedly occupying. According to a recent poll, only 25% of Canadians believe they live on unceded ‘Indigenous’ territory {Because most of them don’t. Read the Treaties!}.

“Today, CBC Aboriginal will be renamed CBC ‘Indigenous’ {But Canadian aboriginals aren’t ‘Indigenous’ to Canada}, and CBC’s Aboriginal Digital Unit will become the ‘Indigenous’ {sic} Digital Unit. While we understand that there is no truly all-encompassing term, ‘Indigenous’ is fast becoming the preferred way to refer to ‘First Nations’ {Another recently-invented term for Indian Bands}, Inuit and Métis {mixed Race} peoples.

This is caused by tribes filing competing land claims — all based on ‘oral history’ — none of which can be accurately resolved because their culture was unfamiliar with map-making and documentation: 

“Two Manitoba Dene ‘First Nations’ {aboriginal tribes} are turning to the courts after Crown-‘Indigenous’ {Aboriginal} Relations Minister Carolyn Bennett has refused to explain why she cancelled a meeting where a draft land claim agreement was expected to be signed. The Sayisi Dene and Northlands Denesuline ‘First Nations’ have applied for a judicial review by a federal court of Bennett’s decision to shut down negotiations.
