‘ON USING THE TERM ‘INDIAN’’ (Peter Best) {June 20, 2015}:
“Indian” is the precise, legal and denotative term for what is in fact a purely race-based legal category of persons in Canada. It’s in the title of the ‘Indian Act’ and used throughout that statute. It’s in the Constitution of our country, referring to that class of aboriginals who inhabit southern Canada. (The other two legally defined types of aboriginals in the Constitution are “Inuit” and “Metis”.)
“If the reader feels uncomfortable seeing and reading the word everywhere because it “sounds racist”, then good! That’s the point — it is inherently racist! And as such, it’s inherently wrong that it’s in our Constitution, statutes and court decisions.
“Canada’s ultimate goal in this regard should be for us all to have no need or desire to have the word “Indian” in our Constitution, in any of our statutes, or to be a meaningful legal term generally…”
“We can go on treating the Indians as having a special status. We can go on adding bricks of discrimination around the ghetto in which they live and at the same time, perhaps, helping them preserve certain cultural traits and certain ancestral rights. Or we can say you’re at a crossroad — the time is now to decide whether the Indians will be a race apart in Canada or whether it will be Canadians of full status.”
“I am a Metis woman. A half breed. What is called a “road allowance Indian“. Too white for the rez and too dark for the suburbs. “I have been told many times in my life that I am too white skinned to be considered Indian by the very Indians that scream “racism“. Isn’t that racist against “half” of your own?

Almost every public comment from Saskatchewan farmers about this story refers to protecting their property from crime; almost every Aboriginal comment refers to Race. It’s obvious who is stirring up most of the racial tension in Saskatchewan – even if our politicized mainstream media can’t — or won’t — report on it…

“The family of a Saskatchewan man who was shot and killed by a local landowner in 2016 plans to appeal an internal investigation by the RCMP that cleared officers of wrongdoing in how they interacted with them in the wake of his death.
“Colten Boushie, 22, was shot and killed in August 2016 on a rural property near Biggar, Sask. His death ignited racial tensions across the province and landowner Gerald Stanley — who has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder — goes on trial in February.
“But when seven officers went to Red Pheasant ‘First Nation’ {a ‘nation’ of 2,472 people} to inform his mother and siblings of his death, they surrounded and searched the family’s trailer. From Halifax, on ‘Canada Day’: A member of the ‘Proud Boys’ — proud of Canada – is told by an anti-Canadian protester that he can’t display the Red Ensign. He then asks why, since there is a Mi’kmaq flag being flown {talk about ‘Cultural Appropriation’!} and an upside-down Canadian flag, and is told that the Red Ensign is “a flag of ‘Genocide’” — a clearly aggressive and provocative insult on Canada Day. Here’s a partial transcript of the encounter — from the video in the linked article — followed by the ridiculous and embarrassing response by some Canadian military officials – people more concerned with Political Correctness than defending Canada…:

So, back in the swing of things with a racist rant from aboriginal women engaged in an illegal protest on Parliament Hill. The only redeeming aspect of this is that the unprovoked verbal assault was directed at an aboriginal-sympathetic ‘CBC’ reporter. Irony abounds. The CBC reporter wanted them to say that Trudeau was an improvement on Harper. Instead, she – and the male reporter who tried to civilly ask a similar question, were arrogantly lectured about how they were “guests here” — the ridiculous racist claim that the descendants of Siberian settlers own all of Canada. Of course, the CBC didn’t set them straight on this foolishness, much less call them out on their blatant racism. And the Prime Minister?Well, he avoided the issue, like always {See below}.
