‘Ipperwash: Governments Cave In To Bullying’

“DND {Department of National Defence}, through its failure to remove illegal occupiers, failure to permit the law to be upheld, failure to protect its boundaries, failure to ensure safety at one of its military facilities, and ultimate retreat from and desertion of Camp Ipperwash in the middle of the night, has created a situation that led to the death of at least one individual, the takeover and destruction of public property, terrorizing of a municipality, destruction of property values, and the tearing apart of a community and its way of life.”

–Kenneth Williams, Chief Administrative Officer, Town of Bosanquet, Ont.

ERBLIpperwash-GovernmentsCaveInToBullying800x800Once upon a time, the Canadian government purchased aboriginal reserve land for a military base. Forty years later, they paid for it again, just so there’d be no hard feelings. Now, the government is giving back the land for free and throwing in $90 million, to boot – and the Province of Ontario is tossing in a free provincial park. I guess they are trying to make everybody happy…

Well, the aboriginals aren’t happy—they’re fighting over who gets what from the ‘unfair’ and ‘inadequate’ gift; I’m certainly not happy with this irresponsible giveaway of public resources, and the rewarding of what was essentially ‘terrorism’; and I guarantee that you, dear reader, are not going to be happy the further you go in this post. Welcome to yet another tale of aboriginal intimidation and government weakness overturning written contracts and common sense in our race-divided land: Continue reading ‘Ipperwash: Governments Cave In To Bullying’

‘Shakedown’

“In one instance outlined in court documents, the company claims Sachigo Lake ‘First Nation’ demanded close to a quarter of its exploration budget – about $1.2 million – for its 2012 drill campaign, calling it an “administration fee”.

“When the company refused to give in, the ‘First Nation’ {a ‘nation’ of 814 people} served them with an “eviction” notice {from what is no longer aboriginal land}, forcing them to stop exploration work and leave the area.”

ERBLShakedown800x800“Two employees from a Sudbury-based junior mining company were held hostage for one day by members of a northwestern Ontario ‘First Nation’ band in 2011, in an attempt to obtain payment from the company as it carried out a gold exploration activity…

“…The company contends it was forced to pay $40,000 to the ‘First Nation’ to free two workers, who were “physically detained”, along with some equipment…”  Continue reading ‘Shakedown’

‘Playing Both Sides Of The Fence’

What constitutes a ‘traitor’? Here’s a northern Ontario chief who accepts the Canadian peoples’ money, uses aboriginal industry lawyers in Canadian courts to assert his ‘rights’ – but denies that he, or his people, are Canadians and insists that the Canadian and Ontario governments are ‘foreign’ and have no authority over his people, or the lands his ancestors surrendered via Treaty.

Now, this hypocrite has decided to “allow” polling stations on the reserves for the federal election, not only giving the Canadian citizens who reside there the chance to exercise their RIGHT to vote, but also tacitly admitting that they ARE, in fact, Canadians…

ERBLPlayingBothSidesOfTheFence800x800“A ‘First Nation’ in northeastern Ontario is welcoming polling stations for the first time in years, opting to give residents the chance to vote tactically, even though the community’s leader says they see the current federal campaign as a “foreign election.” Continue reading ‘Playing Both Sides Of The Fence’

ANOTHER ‘TREATY ADJUSTMENT’

So You Think You Own Land?

“We believe that you should be aware that if the government does not honor our Crown patent, all legal title to properties in Canada could be worthless if caught up in a native claim…”

ERBLThisLandIsOurLand-HonourTheTreatiesForOnce800x800‘Restaurant Owner Says Canada Won’t Honour Crown Patent Title of Private Landowner’

“I’ve had to deal with this for 23 years now. I eat, sleep and drink this thing,” Sauble Beach, Ontario, business owner Dave Dobson said Saturday in an interview. “It’s time to make people aware of what’s going on here.”

“Dobson is the owner of the ‘Crowd Inn’, a 67-year-old landmark take-out restaurant on the beach just north of the main Sauble sign.

“He owns the property, which he said was deeded through Crown patent in 1896 and is registered through the Ontario land registry system.

“But, because of its location, the property is part of the ongoing Saugeen ‘First Nation’ land claim to Sauble Beach north of Main St.

“Dobson, who took over the Crowd Inn from his dad and uncle in 1983, said he has spent more than $60,000 in legal and expert fees to defend his title to the land since being made aware of a land claim in 1992 and being named in the action in 1995.

“He said he fears the litigation could drag on for many more years, costing him much more money.

“Meanwhile, Dobson said he feels abandoned by the federal and provincial governments.

“He said Ottawa has shirked its responsibility to honour the Crown patent for the land.

“He has started an online petition…which calls on Canada to create a legally binding policy to protect the interests of third parties named in a ‘First Nations’ land claim…

‘The Toronto Purchase’

Whose ‘Traditional Land’ Is This?

ERBLThisLandIsOurLand800x800

Even though the Nation of Canada and the City of Toronto recently hosted the Pan Am Games – and the financially-inept Ontario government absorbed most of the $2.5 billion in costs – people from faraway lands were greeted with this:

“The Mississaugas Of The New Credit ‘First Nation’ is proud to be the host ‘first nation’ of the Toronto2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am games.

“As chief of the Mississaugas, I welcome you to our traditional lands…”

This foolishness {“our traditional lands”} went by with virtually no comment from Canadian historians or our governments; indeed, our governments were complicit in spreading what amounts to an historical lie. This has become commonplace, with Canadian officials constantly thanking the ‘traditional’ landowners, even when — as in this case — their claim is ridiculous…  Continue reading ‘The Toronto Purchase’
